The Members, officers and staff of Ashurst Wood Village Council were saddened to learn of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh at the age of 99 on Friday 9th April 2021. The Chair of the Council has sent a Letter of Condolence to the Dukes’ Private Secretary expressing the condolences of the Council and the Community.

Book of Condolence
A Book of Condolence was made available at the Council’s office, for anyone who wished to pay their respects.

Online Books of Condolence
The Royal Family has set up an online book of condolence. The Church of England has also set up an online book.

Flowers and memorial events
Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic and the need to avoid public gatherings, it has not been possible to arrange any memorial events or to provide an area for laying of flowers.

There was a period of National Mourning until Saturday 17th April, the day of the funeral. See the links below for more information.
