Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC) currently has four Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) relating to dog control. The Orders last for three years and will expire on the 16th October 2020.
The PSPOs are intended to protect dogs, their owners and other users of the district’s open spaces. They cover dog fouling in public areas, exclusion of dogs from MSDC’s play and recreation areas, duty to put dog on lead if requested by officer, and the number of dogs that one person may take onto designated Council land. Officers can issue fixed penalty notices for breach of a PSPO.
MSDC is consulting on a proposal to extend the PSPOs for another three years. No changes to the Orders are planned.
