The Council

Ashurst Wood Village Council is the elected local government body representing the civil parish of Ashurst Wood.

What the  Village Council does:

Provides and maintains bus shelters
Provides and maintains public seats
Provides cycle racks
Manages the tennis courts and John Pears Pavilion (for Mid Sussex District Council)
Maintains the War Memorial
Looks after Dors Patch and Bishops Green
Employs handyman
Pays for dog waste bin service
Pays for some of the streetlights in the Village
Organises amenity rubbish collections
Runs weekly Community Shopping Bus

Winter Management – provides grit bins
Liaises with WSCC on highways issues
Makes recommendations on planning applications to MSDC
Responsible for Ashurst Wood Neighbourhood Plan
Responds to consultations from higher tier authorities and other bodies 
Liaises with Sussex Police on crime and safety matters

Owns the Village Centre and liaises with the Centre’s Trustees
Employs Youth Workers to run Youth Club
Makes grants to local organisations

Organises Community Events:
   – Summer events (Ashstock)
   – Christmas Market

Works to improve the services and facilities for residents of Ashurst Wood
