Most shops, apart from food stores and pet stores, were forced to close on the 23rd March. We were fortunate that our village store remained open and well-stocked. The main supermarkets (Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Aldo, Co-op etc) have been open and most have introduced queuing systems and other measures to keep customers and staff safe. Some also have early morning priority shopping periods for NHS staff, and elderly and vulnerable customers. Delivery slots with the supermarkets for those self-isolating or not wishing to go out were hard to come by at first, but the situation has improved with some also offering click and collect.
Many local businesses, including shops and restaurants, introduced collection and/or delivery services. The list below was prepared to assist residents by showing where they could shop locally or arrange for goods to be delivered or collected. Now that businesses are starting to reopen to the public, many are still continuing with their delivery services as not everyone wishes to go into shops yet. The list will be left on the site for the time being, but will not be updated, so you are advised to phone or check the websites for information about current services, opening times etc.
Please note that the Village Council does not support or endorse any of the businesses mentioned, and has not checked whether they have necessary licences or permissions. The Council has provided the information in good faith and cannot be held responsible for any problems that may be experienced. There are other local businesses not mentioned here offering similar services.
