On the 6th February 2022, the Queen became the first British monarch ever to mark 70 years on the throne and celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. To mark the event, there was a long weekend of celebrations from Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June.

The village celebrated the occasion on Thursday 2nd June at John Pears Field.
It was an event for the whole community, young and old, and was very well attended. We were fortunate to have great weather. The Royal-themed selfie tent proved to be very busy. There was musical entertainment during the afternoon, from Choir&Ko, Jazz, Common Buzzards and Amber T; with a headline band, The Mad Hatter's Tea Party in the evening.

The event commenced with a children's fancy dress competition, judged by our District Councillor, John Belsey, who also lit the Jubilee Beacon for us as we joined the national and international lighting ceremony.

Food was available from Delaney's, Oxburger and the ice cream van, whle Sussex Event Bars provided the licensed bar.
St Dunstan's Community Cafe sold teas and cakes (including a magnificent Jubilee Cake!) in the pavilion.

The cost of the event was covered by the Village Council with support from Mid Sussex District Council, PPLPRS and Mansell McTaggart (see below). Pitch fees from food vendors and stall holders and a generous share of the bar takings helped towards the cost of the hire of band, staging and sound system etc.

Thanks to everyone who came along to participate and also to those who helped with organisation, set up and clearing up.
